Project Problem
The challenge presented by the Rancho Buena Vista project was neighborhood opposition to a large affordable housing project that was proposed for development in an upscale master planned community in suburban Chula Vista, California.

Chelsea’s Solution
Chelsea commissioned a very upscale design for the project including rich architectural details, lush landscaping and an array of on site amenities including a large swimming pool and attractive upscale community room. Senior management from Chelsea hosted a bus tour for community members and City officials to view affordable housing projects previously developed by Chelsea in the community. Chelsea also hosted a series of town hall meetings with neighbors in the auditorium of a school located near the project in which Chelsea's management team described its management plan for the project, introduced residents from other affordable projects developed by Chelsea and addressed questions posed by concerned neighbors. Development of the project was ultimately approved by the City Council with unanimous support from the residents of the community.
