A standing ovation comes with the territory for a Hall of Fame induction. That will be the case Saturday when the San Diego BIA honors Jim Schmid of Chelsea Investment Corp. Chelsea specializes in affordable housing development, often misunderstood by the public and certainly less recognized in the industry than its housing peers.
In September Schmid was the surprise recipient of an ICON award for the groundbreaking affordable housing project that reserves 25 apartments for people with developmental disabilities.
In December, without fanfare, he quietly closed his 100th deal.
